Revolutionising Enteral Access

THE TOOL TO SAFELY PLACE NASO/ORO GASTRIC TUBES

Enteral Access Technologies  is an ISO 13485 certified medical device developer and manufacturer.  At E.A.T, we are dedicated to revolutionizing enteral access by providing clinicians with better tools to safely place lifesaving naso/oro gastric feeding and decompression tubes.  That’s why we developed DoubleCHEK™, and that’s why it has the UKCA Mark and a place in the NHS.

Misplacement and exposure to unnecessary radiation are dangerous, but unfortunately common problems associated with the insertion and confirmation of nasogastric feeding and decompression tubes.  The technologies that exist today designed to address those problems are either too costly, too big to be compatible with all tube sizes, have accuracy problems identifying lung placement, or only provide limited information after the tube has been fully inserted.

That all changes with DoubleCHEK™.

Two Key Checks. One Safe Placement

Combining CO2 and pH indications into one, simple to use, and cost-effective device will allow clinicians to place feeding and decompression tubes safely and quickly in any environment – no special equipment or tubes required.

A personal story

Do you ever wonder how people come up with ideas like the DoubleCHEK™?  Often, they come from a personal experience, or from the experience of someone close, and that’s exactly how DoubleCHEK™ came to life.

Our founder and CEO, George Gallagher, was born with his esophagus and trachea fused together.  Known as a trachea-oesophageal fistula, this condition allows food and/or stomach acid to enter the lungs, not good in either case, and can only be corrected by a complicated surgery.  In George’s case, the surgery was performed at NHS Alder Hey hospital and the recovery time was long and complicated – it was six weeks before his mother could hold him for the first time!

Key to George’s recovery was the nutrition he received through a nasogastric feeding tube that was placed after the surgery.

Through his childhood years, and then as an engineer and entrepreneur, George always kept a picture of himself with that feeding tube, thankful that it helped him survive and thrive, but also curious as to how it was placed safely.

That passion, drive, and understanding led to many ideas to improve enteral feeding, but the one he’s most proud of is the DoubleCHEK™.  It’s a great story that hits home for many, and we hope DoubleCHEK™ can help make an impact on all those requiring a nasogastric tube at some point in their lives.
